TEHRAN, September 4 - Senior Iranian and South African officials asked for establishing closer cooperation between banks of the two countries.

Tehran, Pretoria stress boosting bilateral banking cooperationTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif and South Africa’s Parliament Speaker Baleka Mbete conferred on discussed ways to develop bilateral ties as they met in Tehran.

During the meeting, Zarif called South Africa Iran’s friend and stressed boosting cooperation between the two sides in various areas, including banking.

“Iran can act as a good and reliable partner for South Africa in the region,” Zarif said.
Baleka Mbete, for her part, said her country hails measures to develop bilateral relations between Iran and South Africa, especially in the banking sector.

She also referred to considerable potential of the two countries for mutual cooperation, stressing the need to tap into those opportunities.

Mbete arrived in Tehran on Friday for an official visit. Her four-day visit is aimed at strengthening friendly bilateral relations and cooperation between the Iranian and South African legislatures.
