IKCO, Mercedes Benz sign deal on establishing joint company

TEHRAN, September 12 - Iranian largest car manufacturer, Iran Khodro (IKCO) signed a deal with German Mercedes-Benz on establishing a joint company in sale and after sale services.

The deal was signed on Tuesday by Iran Khodro Diesel representing IKCO and Mercedes-Benz in Wuerth manufacturing site, Mercedes Benz main headquarters.

IKCO CEO Hashem Yekkeh-Zareh, Iranian Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohsen Salehi-Nia and Iranian Envoy to Germany Ali Majedi took part in the signing ceremony in Germany.

The contract on commercial vehicles includes establishing a joint company on sale and after sale services of the vehicles. The company would be exclusively in charge of selling commercial products of the German auto manufacturer.

The second company whose agreement would be finalized next month would be in charge of manufacturing, including the current and next generation of Actros Truck.

The current generation of Actros would continue to be produced until 2019 and the next generation would be manufactured after that year based on European standards.
