TEHRAN, YJC. -- The US and German embassies in Ankara have issued warning to their citizens over the unrest in Turkey, the Hürriyet Daily News has learned. Germany called on Monday for calm and dialogue after days of clashes between protesters and police.
The US embassy in Ankara has issued a warning to its citizens in Turkey about potential violence, the Hürriyet Daily News has learned.

The embassy issued a warning letter for the attention of American citizens, reminding them of the tension in the country that has been taking place since last week.

The paper has also learned that US Ambassador Francis Ricciardone has canceled a trip to the US due to the ongoing unrest. He had been due to attend a meeting of the American-Turkish Council.

Meanwhile, the German foreign ministry has urged German citizens to stay away from demonstrations, according to embassy spokesman Peter Kettner.

Germany called on Monday for calm and dialogue in Turkey after days of clashes between anti-government protesters and police.
