TEHRAN, October 4 - Sergei Lavrov, the foreign minister of Russia, sees the United States untrustworthy when it comes to the so-called war on terror, says a commentator.

Russia's foreign minister sees US untrustworthy, analyst saysTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - “Lavrov is simply telling the world [that] the United States cannot be trusted, the history proves it,” Scott Bennett told Press TV on Wednesday.

“The government of the United States has been aiding and abetting terrorism despite what they have been saying,” the former US army psychological warfare officer said.

Since the beginning of militancy in Syria in 2011, the United States and its regional allies have been supporting anti-Damascus militants in a bid to topple the government of President Bashar al-Assad.

Bennett also compared the role of both Washington and Moscow in dealing with instability in the Middle East, saying, “Russia [is] stabilizing a region that the United States and Israel were seeking to upturn and overthrow,” thus, the multi-polar world is much safer than the US-led uni-polar empire.

In an interview with the London-based Arabic-language Asharq al-Awsat daily, published on Wednesday, the Russian foreign minister slammed the US for pursuing a “double standard” approach toward the fight against terror in Syria, saying Washington encourages “bloody provocations” against Russian and Syrian government forces.
