Iran gas exports to Iraq reach over 1.2 billion cubic metres

TEHRAN, November 18 - CEO OF Iran Gas Transmission Company announced Iraq has become Iran’s second largest gas buyer since June.

TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Iran’s latest gas buyer, has imported 1.2 billion cubic metres of gas through pipeline to Baghdad since June. Importing a daily amount of 14 million cubic metres, Iraq has become Iran’s second largest gas buyer, after Turkey which imports 30 million cubic metres per day.

Iran’s Oil Ministry’s news agency quoting its CEO announced: 14 million cubic metres are  currently being exported daily through the existing network in Ilam and Kermanshah for power plant use, increasing this amount depends on our domestic use. Based on the signed contract between the two countries, after completion of the sixth gas line exports to Iraq can rise to 25 million cubic metres per day.

He added “two terminals in Naft Shahr and Shalamcheh and construction zones 7 and 1, are exclusively for export to Iraq.”
