Europe cannot maintain nuclear deal if violate it

TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Mohammad Javad Zarif said in an interview with famous German Journalist Jürgen Todenhöfer that Europe cannot maintain the nuclear agreement by trying to violate the deal.

The Iranian top diplomat remarked Todenhöfer that the JCPOA deal is a fruit of European diplomacy and in case Erope tries to ignore and violate it, then it fails to keep the deal maintained.

Todenhuffer said that the Europeans’ hesitation on the deal might be to calm Donald Trump, yet Zarif said in response that the deal is non-negotiable and must be precisely implemented, that is what the international community expects Europe.

Todenhöfer in a question asked Zarif about Iran missile program and its relation with the European sides hesitation about the JCPOA deal (Iran’s nuclear deal).

Zarif , in response, asserted that Iran’s missile program is a part of the country’s defence program acting as a deterrent against its enemies.

Iran, Zarif said, spends the least on its military equipment in the region, yet such countries as Saudi Arabia having intercontinental missiles capable of carrying nuclear warhead , spend much more.

Iran’s missiles range is up at most to 2000 kilometers, yet Saudi Arabia has purchased Chinese missiles which their original versions range reaches up to 12000 kilometers, he added.

Also answering a question of the German journalis with regard to Persian Gulf and the escalations in the region, Zarif said that the Gulf must enjoy a framework of mutual cooperation within which no one can have dominance over the area.
