TEHRAN, March 17 - Iran's foreign minister said on Friday at the Astana conference that the Astana summits should continue until the eradication of terrorism in Syria.
TEHRAN,Young Journalists Club (YJC) - In a press conference in Astana city of Kazakhstan, Mohammad Javad Zarif stressed the continuation of Astana meetings until the eradication of terrorism in Syria.
Over the past year, Astana meetings brought about good results for the Syrian nation, he added.
Zarif stressed that it is essential to pursue negotiations to totally eradicate terrorism in Syria.
“The Syrian army's progress and its ongoing victories over terrorism have contributed to the continuation of Astana talks The Syrian army's progress and its ongoing victories on terrorism have contributed to the Astana talks” said Zarif meeting with his Russian and Turkish counterparts.
Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov also said on Friday that the mechanism of Astana's negotiations on Syrian crisis proved its significance and would help to politically resolve the crisis in the country.
Those who oppose the Astana talks want to split Syria, Lavrov added.
