TEHRAN, April 12 - Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi called on French officials not to be affected by “claims and adventures” of inexperienced, arrogant and hawkish Saudi crown prince Mohammad Bin Salman.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - He made the remarks after a joint statement by France and Saudi Arabia raised allegations against Iran.
He said France, as a P5+1 member, is not expected to be affected by repetitious and false allegations of Saudi Arabia which has always tried to oppose Iran’s nuclear deal and spent huge expenses to prevent materialization of the deal.
He added, “Unlike what has been mentioned in the statement, the Islamic Republic of Iran has always taken steps for security and stability of regional countries and battling terrorism.”
He stressed the only way to restore calm and security to West Asia is talks among the countries in the region.
As to Iranian missile program, he said, “French officials are probably aware that Iranian missile program is only for defense and deterrence purposes and is not against interests and security of any country.”
He also categorically rejected allegations that Iran is sending weapons for some groups or countries in the region.
