Occupy Wall Street activist Margaret Flowers in interview with Nedaye Enghelab has said that by taking measures that increase their independence, the people of American are preparing for the day when economic hardship collapses the United States.
There are a number of local currencies being used, for example, in Baltimore where the BNote circulates. So people are preparing themselves for life in a state of economic crisis, said Flowers.
The BNote is local currency – real money that can be used for any local transaction in the Baltimore area. As of July 24, 2013, over 35,000 BNotes have been exchanged into circulation and are being accepted in communities across the city, the Baltimore Green Currency Association says.
Over 210 independent businesses accept BNotes, and more are joining the network every week.
