TEHRAN, May 25 - French President said on Thursday that necessary guarantees should be given to Tehran with regards to the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Despite facing possible US sanctions, European
companies are interested in preserving their cooperation with Iran, Macron said at a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart on the sidelines of St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
The European countries have announced in recent days that they would stay in the deal, the French president said at the press conference which was broadcast live by Russia 24 TV network.
He said three European countries that have signed the deal are implementing the provisions of the agreement.
Macron said during the last week's EU summit in Sofia, the participants called on Iran to continue implementing its obligations under the deal so that European companies and their partners could find a suitable ways to remain in Iran despite American sanctions.
Iran is fulfilling its obligations and the information they received from the International Atomic Energy Agency was all positive, therefore they want to preserve the JCPOA, Macron said.
He also referred to his 'important talks' with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on the country's nuclear program after 2025.
On May 8, President Donald Trump announced the US pull out from Iran nuclear deal and re-imposition of sanctions against the country.
In reaction to Trump's announcement, EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini reiterated EU' cooperation with Iran on the JCPOA. The UK, France, Germany, China and Russia, too, announced that they would stay in the deal.
President Rouhani has said that Tehran will continue cooperating with the other five signatories to the JCPOA as long as its interests are secured, otherwise it will make proper decision.
