Tehran, YJC. Pajooyan says that it is the international sanctions that have caused economic inflation in Iran.
"After the US Embassy in Iran was closed the economic pressure that was exerted on the country would come majorly from a few countries that included the US,” stated Jamshid Pajooyan, economist, academic, and former economic consultant to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

He pointed out that the sanctions started with the siege of the embassy and the hostage event, adding "When one or a few countries sanction another, even though exchange rates go unwillingly high for that country, there is still the opportunity to bypass the sanctions.”

"But the recent sanctions come largely from the UN. These are sanctions decided by the Security Council. Bypassing Security Council sanctions is much more difficult than bypassing the sanctions of countries. Besides, in the last case, the EU has also joined the Security Council and US in restricting Iran,” he further said to Mosalas Online.

The former economic consultant to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said "The most important result of international actions against Iran has been the growth of inflation. The major part of the inflation we have had in the recent years, and of course right now, comes from these sanctions. The economic pressure that troubles the people today no doubt comes from the sanctions.”
