TEHRAN, June 29 - Egypt says security forces have killed 10 militants involved in a bombing that targeted the convoy of Alexandria's former security chief in March.

TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - The Interior Ministry said Thursday that six were killed in a shootout in Beheira province and another four were killed in a clash in Assiut. It says two others were arrested.

The statement presented the raids as recent events without specifying when they occurred. But the ministry had reported the Beheira shootout in March, shortly after the bombing, and a security official confirmed the Assiut raid on Wednesday.

The ministry says the militants belonged to the Hasm movement, a group it considers to be a splinter of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood.

The official survived the convoy attack, which killed two police.
