Iran senior cleric: Identity of Islamic Ummah dependent on unity

TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Ayatollah Mohsen Araki, addressing the First National Congress on Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, Opportunities and Future Perspectives, said that obedience of the Islamic society to religion and Prophet Mohammad (PBUP) will safeguard the Islamic society against the enemy deception and propaganda.

'As appears in the words of Muslim Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) the identity of the Islamic Ummah is dependent on Muslim unity,' Ayatollah Araki said.

He stressed that in order for the Islamic society to embrace unity, there should be no difference between the Shias and Sunnis.

Referring to recent remarks by the Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei refusing entering negotiations with the United States, he reiterated that all the people in the country should listen to recommendations of the Supreme Leader.

The people from all walks of life must be unanimous in following advice of the Leader, and try to promote development of the country as a common goal,' he said.
