Tehran, YJC. Ayatollah Hashemi has said that a comprehensive plan for the Islamic world which pivots around Iran and Saudi Arabia will solve regional problems.

In meeting with the Speaker of the Parliament of Lebanon, Iran’s Head of Expediency Discernment Council Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani stated that terror acts such as the recent suicide bombing near Iran’s embassy in Beirut are devised by enemies of Muslims and arise from political and religious prejudice.

He asserted "Historical disagreements must not find way to social disintegration and grudge lest they jeopardize the security of Muslims.”

In answer to Nabih Berri’s request for him to arrange a meeting with the Saudi King, Hashemi pointed to his trip of a few years ago to Saudi Arabia with the plan to discuss King Abdullah into forming joint committees to cope with mutual concerns.

"It is to regret that in the past years, extremists have driven most Islamic countries, and the regional ones in particular, where most desired by colonizing, monopolizing countries, preventing regional nations and states from experiencing a vibe of Islamic unity,” Hashemi added.

He stated "The issues of the Islamic world are solvable through a comprehensive plan which pivots around Iran and Saudi Arabia.”

The Head of the Expediency Discernment Council pointed to the Syrian crisis and its impact on Lebanon and said "The Islamic Republic of Iran does not like interfering with the affairs of other countries, knowing that the leaders of a country act according to their conditions.”

Nabih Berri in turn pointed to the high regard paid to Ayatollah Hashemi in Islamic countries and Saudi Arabia in particular and emphasized the roles of Iran and Saudi Arabia among Islamic countries.

"The Islamic world is waiting for Mr. Hashemi Rafsanjani to play his historic role in bringing Muslims together once more,” Berri asserted.
