Tehran, YJC. National Security member has blasted Saudi efforts to take terrorist bomber under custody.

Mohammad Hassan Asafari, member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Majlis, in interview with Fars pointed to attempts to shift the custody of Majed al-Majed to Saudi officials and said "The hand of the Saudi government is clearly seen in these events. Also it is made clear that part of regional bombings in Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon are carried out by Saudi-related groups, that is, Taliban and Wahhabists.”

He asserted that the crime has taken place in Lebanon and that Majed holds no diplomatic position, adding "So, his trial must be carried out in Lebanon.”

Maintaining that it would be pointless to hand over Majed to Saudi Arabia, Asafari said "In case something such as an accident happens to diplomats, they can be turned over to their country. But when someone has committed anti-security acts and has facilitated the killing of the people of Lebanon, his trial must be held in that very country.”

Majed al-Majed was the leader of the Abdullah Azzam Brigades responsible for recent bombing operations at the Iranian Embassy in Beirut.
