Zarif stresses cooperation on nuclear case in meeting with Italian parliamentary body

Tehran, YJC. Foreign Minister has said Iran welcomes cooperation and the West has to make the country trust it.

The President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies Pier Ferdinando Casini who is leading a legislative team to Iran met with Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Sunday.

The Iranian Foreign Minister in this meeting pointing to Iran’s nuclear program said "The Iranian nation favors cooperation; but as the nation is cynical toward the West, attempt must be made to build trust for Iran.”

Also hinting at regional unrest, Zarif said "We believe that the region needs local models of democracy and that extremist actions will not bear fruit.”

Counting Iran as a successful model for democracy he stated "This tells of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s ability which has also found resonances in the area. Iran can play a key role in the region.”

 Casini in turn said "A great, influential country such as Iran can play a vital role in the region.”

He also considered inter-parliamentary relations as important for the two countries to draw close to each other and stressed the need for the two countries to boost cooperation on regional affairs.
