TEHRAN, YJC. The Syrian FM has said as there are terrorist groups that are in contact with al-Qaeda, collateral measures are being taken to stop the savagery by pressuring Turkey and Qatar as their supporters.

Walid Muallim, the Foreign Minister of Syria, and Aliakbar Salehi, Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs, took part in a joint press conference on Saturday.

Muallim said in "In Syria we face a crisis in which all the world takes part, but we continue to stand.”

"Our endurance is first of all because of the nation and its leaders' resistance, and second, because of our friends and brothers who stand by us,” Muallim added.

Salehi also said in the press conference "We can not ask Syria to lay down arms and let the hirelings do whatever they want. No country and no government would do that.”

Iran's FM also said "There are old ties between Iran and Syria and we will never forget the support that the Syrian nation and its government offered to us during the imposed war against Saddam's regime.”

Walid Muallim also met with Iran's Secretary of the Supreme Council of National Security Saeed Jalili Saturday evening.

In this meeting Jalili stressed Iran's position for supporting the political approach and national talks in Syria.

Jalili said "We must not allow a few countries to introduce themselves as international representatives in supporters of terrorism, the same way the terrorist try to introduce themselves as representative of the people of Syria.”
