Tehran, YJC. Iran and Mexico parliamentarians have stressed cooperation in energy.

Speaking in a meeting with the head of the Mexican Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee Gabriela Cuevas in Tehran on Monday, the Speaker of the Iranian parliament Ali Larijani stated that extremist movements are a plague to the Middle East.

"The policies of world powers in occupying Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as their approach to the Syrian crisis have laid the ground for extremist movements in the region,” he asserted.

Cuevas in turn pointing to the old civilizations of Iran and Mexico and similar cultural grounds said "Mexico would like to strengthen friendly relations with Iran, especially in economic, cultural, and scientific spheres.”

Providing comments on her country’s extensive Reformist measures in economy and energy in particular, she pointed out Iran’s opulent energy market and said "The two countries enjoy vast opportunities for cooperation and sharing experience. Mexico is willing to expand relations with Iran in that area.”

Iran’s Majlis Speaker also stated "Cooperation between the Iranian and Mexican parliaments can be very effective in improving the level of friendly exchange by promoting a better understanding of the two countries’ capacities and views in different fields.”
