TEHRAN, Feb 04 - Iran’s parliament on Monday gave a vote of confidence to the new minister of health nominated by President Hassan Rouhani.

Parliament approves Rouhani’s pick for health ministryTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - During an open session of the parliament this morning, lawmakers discussed the vote for Saeed Namaki, after the president took the podium to talk about the backgrounds of his pick.

According to the votes, 229 out of 259 lawmakers voted for Namaki to be the next minister of health, while 25 MPs voted against and four abstained.

Namaki previously served as the scientific, cultural, and social deputy of the Plan and Budget Organization.

The former health minister, Seyed Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi, resigned last month after a row over the budget allocated to his organization.
