TEHRAN, Feb 25 - The first Iranian domestically-made water jet motor was unveiled on Monday in a ceremony attended by the country's defense minister.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - In the sidelines of the ceremony General Amir Hatami said that Iran was a marine country with many opportunities, stressing that using the opportunities requires marine power that one of its requirements is to have marine equipment and facilities.
He then pointed out to propellers a the most important requirements in the maritime industry and said "earlier this year, we unveiled a 1,300hp diesel, which has many applications in the offshore and rail sectors. Today, waterjet propeller, which is one of the essential requirements of military, commercial and recreational vessels in the country, was unveiled".
General Hatami said with the navy acquired technical ability to design and manufacture such a water jet motor, the ground was prepared to manufacture it with different levels of power.
Recently also Iran unveiled Fateh submarine equipped with cruise missiles.
The new Iranian submarine is equipped with a variety of top-notch technologies, including sonar systems, electric propulsion, a system for firing submarine-launched missile at surface targets, an electronic warfare system as well as a secure integrated communications system, Genral Hatami said.
Over the past years, Iran has made major breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing military equipment and hardware despite sanctions and economic pressures on the country.
The Islamic Republic maintains that its military power poses no threat to other countries and is merely attentive to its military doctrine of deterrence.
The Leader said that Iran’s enhanced military preparedness would frighten the foes and be deterrent against the enemies, underlining, “The Islamic Republic is not intending to begin a war against anyone, but you (the Iranian military forces) should boost your capabilities in such a way that not only the enemy would be fearful and afraid of attacking Iran, but also thanks to the solidarity, might, and effective presence of the Armed Forces, the specter of threats against the Iranian nation would be swept away.”
