TEHRAN, YJC. Russia will seek to step up efforts within the Middle East Diplomatic Quartet (Russia, the EU, the U.S. and the UN) to look for possible solutions to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Moscow's UN Ambassador Vitaly Churkin said.
"The Quartet has not met for nearly a year. It is a mistake," he said at a press conference. "We need to overcome this stagnation in tackling the Middle East problem," Churkin said.
"The main problem is that one of the Quartet participants was not prepared for talks," he said. Following Barack Obama's re-election as president of the United States, a good chance has emerged to resume the quarter's vigorous work, Churkin said.
