Iran to expand economic and business ties with Republic of Azerbaijan

TEHRAN, Mar 14 - Iran's Minister of Economy and Finance has called for expansion of cooperation and bilateral ties with the Republic of Azerbaijan, saying economic and business ties must be expanded with Baku.

TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Speaking on Thursday morning as he arrived in Baku the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Farhad Dezhpasand referred to Iran's policy of strengthening and expanding political and economic relations with neighbouring countries and said: "Tehran-Baku relations are historic and excellent," Iran Press reported.

Turning to the 13th joint economic commission meeting of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan, Dezhpasand said the two-day meeting starts today (Thursday) in Baku, and senior officials of both countries will discuss and exchange ideas on strengthening and expansion of economic ties, and appropriate decisions will be made by both sides.

Iran's minister of economy and finance went on to mention tourism, agriculture, railways, financial and banking ties, and water and electricity as some of the areas where business and economic ties can be strengthened between Tehran and Baku.

Minister of economy and finance, Farhad Dezhpasand is expected to meet with the president, prime minister, economy minister, agriculture minister, the head of the Central Bank, and the head of the Railways organization of the Republic of Azerbaijan, during his stay in Baku.

He is also expected to take part in a joint commercial exhibition of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan in Baku. Dezhpasand is also expected to take part in the 13th joint economic commission meeting of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
