It said the filming of the show would also be suspended until a review into what happened during the recording session is completed.

“Given the seriousness of this event, ITV has also decided to suspend both filming and broadcasting of The Jeremy Kyle Show with immediate effect in order to give it time to conduct a review of this episode,” said the ITV, adding that everyone in the channel was shocked to hear the news of the death of the participant.

There was no immediate detail about the death of the guest and how it was related to the recording of the episode of The Jeremy Kyle Show she featured in.

The show is quite known for delving into the personal life of the participants and allowing them to engage in fiery arguments during the program.

More than a decade ago, a participant of the show was convicted of assault after a fight on set during the filming of an episode, prompting the judge in the case to compare the show to bear-baiting.

TV channels in the UK have been repeatedly criticized for allowing open discussions about personal issues like sex, drug addiction and domestic violence in their programs. Critics believe the policy has helped a rising trend of violence in the country, especially among the youth.
