TEHRAN, May 17 - Foreign Minister of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif left Japan for China on Friday to hold talks with senior Chinese officials on US’ destabilizing policies.

Zarif visits ChinaTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - The top Iranian diplomat has travelled to China for political negotiations on Tehran-Beijing ties and the latest regional and international developments, including the US government’s destabilizing activities.

Zarif is going to meet his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on Friday evening.
The Iranian foreign minister paid visits to Russia, Turkmenistan, India, and Japan before travelling to Beijing.

Speaking to reporters before leaving Tokyo, Zarif said, “While the US is trying to create tensions and clashes and has violated the JCPOA, it is definitely necessary for us to inform the major countries of the latest developments and continue our consultations with them.”

“As you know, I travelled to Moscow last Wednesday, then I made a pre-planned trip to Turkmenistan and then travelled to India and Japan and finally to China in order to let our partners, particularly the JCPOA parties, know about the latest developments,” he added.
“The trip to Japan was aimed at consultations with high-ranking Japanese officials on how to save the JCPOA, considering their interest and their emphasis on saving the JCPOA, and our insistence that saving the JCPOA is ‘only’ possible through practical measures, and not through supportive statements alone,” Zarif explained.
“We had good discussions, both with Prime Minister Abe and with the (Japanese) foreign minister. I hope that results of these discussions would serve the interests of the two nations,” he underlined.
