Iran welcomes talk between Venezuela govt., opposition in Norway

TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - The Iranian spokesman pointed out to the destructive effects of some countries' meddling in Venezuela's internal affairs and said "US has put a collective crackdown on the Venezuelan people through blocking and looting Venezuela's financial resources, so it is essential that US terminates its economic terrorism as well as its illegal and anti-human rights behaviors in order for Venezuelan nation get better".

Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro has declared the beginning of negotiations with the US-backed opposition in an effort to resolve the political stalemate in the country following months of unrest.

Norway, which referred to the talks as "exploratory discussions," started the mediation to bring to an end a months-long crisis that plagued the nation after opposition figure Juan Guaido declared himself interim president right after Maduro won his second six-year term in January.
