TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Protesters shout slogans against the US, during a demonstration next to the US Embassy in Amman, Jordan on 28 May 2019.
The protesters have condemned US President Donald Trump's senior adviser Jared Kushner's plan regarding Middle East peace plan, Iran Press reported.
Kushner is due to visit Jordan on 29 May to discuss the US-hosted economic conference about Middle East peace plan, the White House reported on Tuesday. The conference is due to take place later in June.
On May 19, the White House said that the US will hold an international economic 'workshop' in Bahrain in late June, seeking to encourage investment in the Palestinian territories as the first part of Donald Trump’s long-awaited so-called Middle East peace plan.
The highly-anticipated 'Deal of the Century' will be presented to Israelis & Palestinians in the coming weeks though parts of this controversial and racist plan have been leaked to the press.
According to a 2017 study of public attitudes in 11 Arab countries, 77 percent of respondents believe the fate of Palestinians concerns all Arabs. Interestingly enough, Arab nations whose regimes have official relations or are pushing for normalization with Israel are most adamant about the issue: 90 percent of Jordanians, 85 percent of Egyptians and 80 percent of Saudis are convinced the Palestinian cause is a pan-Arab one.
At the same time, 90 percent of all respondents indicate that they still see Israel as the greatest threat to the security of their home countries and 87 percent oppose recognition of the Zionist regime.
The fact that Arab leaders have been going against the will of their people and engaging with Israel has diminished their legitimacy and fuelled popular anger.
