TEHRAN, Jun 18 - Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi and Russian President’s Special Envoy to Syria Alexander Lavrentiev discussed the latest developments in Syria and means of achieving stability in it.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Abdul Mahdi, during his meeting with Lavrentiv and his accompanying delegation, discussed development of the situation in Syria and achieving stability in it, the ongoing preparations for holding the Astana meetings in addition the regional situation,” a statement by the Iraqi Prime Minister said.
For his part, the Russian envoy expressed his country’s desire for continued cooperation between Russia and Iraq in combating terrorism and seeking for stability in Syria.
He stressed that his country welcomes the return of Iraq’s influential role in the region.
