Tehran, YJC. Mitra says she has given Mrs. Catherine Ashton a dress she has made.
The High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs
and Security Policy for the European Union Catherine Ashton is well known in Iran
for her meetings with Iranian nuclear negotiators.
During the past few years, the way she dressed would always be the source of
much talk inside the country.
One time when her photo was published beside top Iranian negotiator Said Jalili, in Iranian newspapers, her dress was sort of trimmed so that it would be more covering and in line with the Iranian state’s dress code.
It was a proper dress for meetings; claimed Ashton’s spokesperson after the trimmed picture came out, showing irritation at what Iranians had done.
Now in a novel move, an Iranian fashion designer has sewn Mrs. Ashton a dress to wear during the meetings.
Mitra Tamjidi said that as she contacted Ashton’s office, the head of office also asked for one for herself.
Latest reports go that the dresses have been delivered to Mrs. Ashton and her colleague.
