TEHRAN, Jul 14 -Simone Halep of Romania has clinched the women’s singles title at Wimbledon, for the first time in her career, after stunning America’s Serena Williams in straight sets.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) -Halep produced a flawless performance in the final, and outclassed her American rival in just 56 minutes, with two six twos .
It was also Serena’s 3rd major final defeat in 12 months, while falling short of a record equaling 24th Grand Slam triumph.
Meanwhile, Halep, who began the tournament as world No.7, will rise to number four when the next rankings are published on Monday.
