Tehran, YJC. City Council member says security and labor in Tehran are threatened by illegal immigrants.

Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of the City Council of Tehran asserting that Tehran must not be open to people without ID said "Illegal immigrants have created serious problems in the capital regarding labor and security. The City Council, therefore, has to attend to the issue more sensitively.”

Parviz Sarvari who was speaking with Mehr News Agency maintained that Iran is one of the biggest immigrant hosts in Asia, adding "In a lot of countries immigrants are considered as opportunities whereas it is to regret that in our country they have turned into a threat.”

"Immigrants severely damage the country’s labor while our unemployment rate is very high. Also, since the entries are not controlled they will increase crime. So some very harsh regulation has to be devised against illegal immigrants,” he asserted.

Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of the City Council of Tehran stated "Some determined decision has to be made about immigration. The country’s gates to unofficial immigration have to be closed. For the official ones also some procedure has to be laid down in order that the immigrants may help solve some problem or to contribute to the country’s scientific development. Even if investment is made in that it would be profitable.”
