Tehran, YJC. Bayatian has said that Iranian car manufacturers tend not to catch up with current international standards.

Member of the Majlis Industries and Mines Committee Board of Directors in interview with Tasnim news agency stated "Some car manufacturing managers state that their products are of low quality because of the low quality of the material. I believe that such claims are not justified and serve rather as an excuse for not carrying out practical measures to improve the quality of cars manufactured inside the country.”

"During a short term parts were produced for a less price in China than in Iran. That brought the situation when many part manufacturing firms inside the country were shut down or had to work below their official capacity. This caused many a great damage to the country’s entire car manufacturing industry,” Mohammad Bayatian maintained.

He then added "If we put our efforts into activating domestic part manufacturing firms, no doubt cars will grow in  quality in the future. I believe that the material used for making parts are often of low quality which ahs also resulted in low-quality products.”

Bayatian maintained "Domestic car manufacturers are not able to compete with imported products. If the tariff on car import is revoked, then we must stop low-quality Chinese cars being imported.”
