Sunday, 28 June_Yellow Vest protesters returned to the streets of Paris, for what they had dubbed act 72 of the long-running movement, on Saturday.
The demonstrators gathered outside the French Finance and Economy Ministry in Paris's Bercy neighbourhood, in the French capital's 12th arrondissement, under the watchful eye of police.
Participants, many carrying French flags and protest signs, stopped to show their appreciation for health workers outside the nearby La Pitie Salpetriere hospital.
"We will continue for 96 more Saturdays, 679 more days under Macron and we will always be here to demand purchasing power, freedom and democracy," said Remy, a protester.
"The basis of democracy is to listen, it's that the government listens to the people, we express this democracy on the street, for the right to demonstrate, and if we are always on the street it is because they do not listen to us," declared Inda Bigot, a Paris-based Yellow Vest.
The Yellow Vest movement began as a grassroots citizen protest in November 2018 and quickly spread across mainland France.
