A group of truck drivers gathered in front of Sao Paulo city hall on Monday to protest police violence against members of their profession. A long line of lorries could be seen parked on Cha Bridge in the city historical centre. “We are here demanding public authorities to take action over the Civil Environmental Guard policing.

They have been violently approaching our colleagues, assaulting some of them, even shooting trucks and colleagues. And we want the authorities to take action,” a driver told Ruptly. Last week, a video emerged on social media showing a police officer kneeling on a driver’s back and neck after arresting him on a routine traffic stop.
