Monday, 03 August 2020_Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says the Islamic Republic and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) must strive to strengthen bilateral cooperation and enhance stability in the region under the existing circumstances.

Zarif says as neighbors, Iran, UAE must think about regional stability"Others may take advantage of the current situation to destabilize the region, but we (Iran and the UAE), as two neighbors, should think about regional stability," Zarif said in a video call with his Emirati counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan, on Sunday.

Nayhan, for his part, stressed the importance of bolstering cooperation and holding constant consultations to turn challenges into opportunities.

The two foreign ministers discussed cooperation on issues of common interests and regional developments and expressed readiness to expand relations in various fields to serve those interests.

In a post on his Twitter account later in the day, the Iranian foreign minister said he had "a very substantive, frank and friendly video conversation with" his Emirati counterpart.

He added that the sides exchanged views about the deadly coronavirus pandemic in addition to bilateral, regional and global situations.

"We agreed to continue dialog on theme of hope—especially as region faces tough challenges, and tougher choices ahead," Zarif tweeted.
