Tehran, YJC. Iran Police stopped 120 kg opium placed inside industrial gear heading for London.

Iran’s Chief Airport Police Hassan Mehri in interview with Tasnim said that 120 kg of opium has been intercepted at the customhouse at Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport.

"The Airport Police found an export cargo yesterday while they inspected the Iranair airline warehouse. The cargo insisted of 13 large industrial gears,” he said.

He further said "After the police dogs attacked the gears the policemen inspected the cargo more carefully to find over 120 kg of opium which had been very professionally placed inside the gears.”

"The gears were so thick that we had to use over 100 rounds of angle grinder discs. They were made watertight with layers of lead, fireproof paper, and metal sheets thick 8 mm,” he said.

Four were also arrested in relation with the opium discovered, Mehri added.
