Tehran, YJC. Mashhad Friday preacher says in reaction to Rouhani that the country’s culture must be ‘defended’ via internet censorship.

Mehr News Agency reports that ayatollah Ahmad Allamalhoda who was speaking to the Mashhad prayers on Friday said "Recently the President made statements about censorship which was welcomed by enemies and their media.”

On the contrary he made good remarks in relation to hijab [Islamic dress code] which was not covered by foreign media, he stated.

The Friday preacher added that while Iran has no social network or search engine of its own and has to use ones that belong to ‘the enemy’, it makes no sense if it overlooks censorship.

"Under such circumstances we cannot say that we oppose censorship. Defense, which has been a principal factor in resistance, is now needed on the cultural front,” Allamalhoda noted.
