Saturday, 17 April 2021_Rafael Nadal has crashed out of the Monte Carlo Masters, following a 2-sets-to-1 defeat at the hands of Andrey Rublev.
Nadal, who entered the clash leading Rublev 2 love in their ATP head to head meetings, dropped the opener 6-2, but leveled the match at one set apiece with a 6-4 win in the 2nd.
However, there was more drama to come in the 3rd set, as the Spaniard was broken 3 times and fell 5-1 behind, before Rublev wrapped it up with another 6-2. The Russian needed 2 hours and 32 minutes to close out the victory and seal a spot the semi-finals, where he'll face Casper Ruud of Norway, who beat Fabio Fognini of Italy 6-4 and 6-3.
