Sunday, 23 May 2021 (YJC) _ The Iranian Health Ministry spox announced that 8,631 new Covid-19 cases has been detected in the country in the past 24 hrs.
The Iranian Health Ministry spokesperson announced on Sunday that 8,631 new COVID-19 infections have been detected across the country in the past 24 hours.
“8,631 COVID-19 infections and 187 deaths due to the disease in the past 24 hours” the spox said while adding that “This brings the total number of cases to more than 2,832,518.”
The spokesperson went on to say that “216 COVID patients have lost their lives in the past 24 hours that bring the total death toll to 78,597.”
“4,855 people are being treated in ICUs in hospitals across the country, while 2,333,789 have already gained recovery,” ministry added.
“As many as 2,536,627 have received the first doses of the anti-coronavirus vaccine as of today, while 455,232 have been injected with the second dose of the vaccine,” added the spox.
According to the latest figures, more than 167,202,440 people have so far been infected with the novel coronavirus globally, with the deaths standing at 3,471,374 and recoveries amounting to 148,176,487.
