Tuesday, 17 August 2021 (YJC)_ Iranian Foreign ministry spokesperson lashed out at Washington for imposing new sanctions against certain individuals and said the country is addicted to sanction.
Regarding the recent sanctions imposed on Iranian individuals and institutions the Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh told reporters that the US administration is addicted to sanctions.
“It is clear that the US sanctions policy against Iran is a failed policy and only indicates Washington's addiction to sanctions," he said while adding that” It is surprising that in spite of all the acknowledgments made by the US officials about the failure of maximum pressure policy against Iran, the administration still continues this approach.”
The US Treasury Department said on Friday that it has imposed sanctions on an individual and businesses allegedly involved in trading Iranian oil despite Washington’s claims to be willing to rejoin the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
The US Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control announced on Friday that it has placed financial restrictions on an Omani national, who had allegedly worked with Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) officials and facilitated shipments of Iranian oil, including to customers in East Asia.
