In an interview with Anatolia News Agency, Mahmoud al-Zahar, a member of Hamas' political bureau, spoke about the latest developments in Palestine.
Referring to the recent demonstrations on the Gaza border with the Zionist regime, he said that these actions were aimed at putting pressure on the Zionist regime to stop crimes against the Palestinian people.
Regarding the resistance project, Al-Zahar said, "It is the right of the Palestinians to defend themselves everywhere with all means." If the peaceful means fail, it is our right to arm ourselves in defense of our land and our sanctuaries.
He continued: "Israel has an atomic bomb, so is it logical that the Palestinians do not have guns to defend themselves?" In particular, the PA has shied away from this task and turned to Israel on a wrong principle and a crime called security cooperation.
Al-Zahar then said that the Hamas project is a resistance against the Israeli occupier, not a war project; War is one of the tools of resistance.
