Saturday, 18 September 2021 (YJC)_ The Syrian Minister of Energy announced on Saturday morning that there was a power outage in Damascus due to an attack on a gas pipeline near the town of Deir Ali.

Syrian media reported hours before the power outage in large areas of Syria. Syria's official news agency, Sanaa, quoted the country's energy minister as saying:
The power outage was caused by an attack on one of the gas lines at Deir Ali Power Plant, which caused the plant to shut down and technical forces were dispatched to the scene to resolve the problem.

The Syrian Minister of Energy stated that electricity in Damascus and other areas facing power outages will be connected in the coming hours.
