The Algerian presidency confirmed that the Algerian ambassador to France had been summoned for consultations, adding that a statement would be issued in this regard at a later time.
The decision to summon the Algerian ambassador coincides with the publication by the French newspaper “Le Monde” of statements by President Macron in which he said that his Algerian counterpart, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, “is stuck in a very difficult regime.”
In his statements, Macron also referred to the historical past of France in Algeria, pointing out that he wanted to rewrite Algerian history in both Arabic and Berber: “to expose the falsification of facts by the Turks who are rewriting history.”
