US and Saudi foreign ministers meet focusing on Lebanon and Iran

Monday, 1 November 2021 (YJC)_ The foreign ministers of the United States and Saudi Arabia met on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Rome, Italy.

US and Saudi foreign ministers meet focusing on Lebanon and IranUS Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan met on the sidelines of the G20 summit in the Italian capital, Rome, on Sunday to discuss developments in Lebanon and Sudan.

The meeting focused on regional and international issues of common concern, in particular strengthening security and stability in the region and efforts to bring peace to the region, the Saudi news agency WASS reported.

Joint efforts to tackle climate change and preserve the environment were also reviewed with a view to enhancing sustainable international development.

The two sides also discussed recent developments in Sudan, the need for joint action to support security and stability in the country, the issue of Iran's nuclear program, and international efforts in this regard.

According to the Al Khaleej Online website, Blinken wrote on his Twitter account after the meeting:
Today, we spoke with the Saudi Foreign Minister about the situation in Lebanon, as well as the need for the immediate return of the transitional government led by civil society groups in Sudan.
