Tehran, YJC. Iranian MP says new wave of Palestinian resistance against Israeli policies is likely to form into a new intifada.

Mojtaba Rahmandoust, Member of Iran-Palestine parliamentary friendship group in interview with the Islamic Consultative Assembly News Agency said "The developments that took place during the past few days can be the starting point for a new round of resistance in the West Bank.”

In the past few years, the Israeli regime has tried to further occupy the Palestinian land and violate the rights of the area’s residents under the disguise of compromise, he asserted.

He added "The Zionist regime faces an uncontrollable crisis which is fear of Palestinian fighters. This has created tension among Israeli officials.”

Heavy clashes were reported outside Israel’s Ofer Prison, near Ramallah north of al-Quds (Jerusalem), on Thursday. Israeli forces reportedly used tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse angry Palestinians protesting in front of the prison.

The latest confrontations come after Israeli forces arrested over a dozen Palestinians across the West Bank overnight, Press TV reported on Friday.

On Sunday, witnesses said Israeli troops raided the village of Kafr Kanna early Saturday and opened fire on 22-year-old Khair Lotfi Hamdan following an altercation with him.

The Palestinian died of his wounds in the hospital shortly afterwards, the same source reports.

Tensions are reportedly mounting in East al-Quds (Jerusalem) as extremist Israeli groups announce plans to march over a recent attempt on the life of a rabbi.

Only on Wednesday, dozens of Palestinian worshippers were injured at the holy site in an attack by Israeli forces, who used stun grenades and rubber bullets.
