Tehran, YJC. Velayati says he is not aware of an alleged letter from the US president to Iran’s Supreme Leader.

Ali Akbar Velayati, Advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader ayatollah Ali Khamenei in international affairs and Head of the Strategic Research Center for the Expedience Discernment Council, said that he is not aware if a letter claimed by US entities to have been sent by President Barack Obama to the Supreme Leader.

Speaking on the sidelines of a meeting with a delegation from Kuwait on Sunday, he said "One has to ask Americans how they published such news.”

Asked if he intends to travel to Oman, where Iran, the US, and EU hold talks on the former’s nuclear program, as the talks begin, he said "I have neither take any recent trip to Oman, nor intend to take such a one on the occasion.”

No such thing has been mentioned, he asserted.

He further explained "What some media with Western resources have published has no basis and I am not going to visit the country.”
