Tehran, YJC. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and former Iraqi PM Nouri al-Maliki met in Tehran Monday morning.

Expressing thanks to the Iraqi leader for his service to Iraq during his office as the prime minister, ayatollah Khamenei said "You did a great job during the Iraqi power transition, preventing disturbances and helping stability. Iraq will never forget your deeds.”

Praising Maliki for his clear sense of issues in Iraq, he said "Your trend in helping the new government of Mr. Haidar al-Abadi and bringing unity to the various forces in Iraq is a good overtaking which has to go on.”

For his part, Maliki expressed happiness for meeting the Iranian Supreme Leader and said "The Islamic Republic of Iran has always offered the best and most precious aid to the Iraqi government and nation to fight terrorists and foreign agents.”
