Leader: Arrogant Powers Enjoy the Suffering of the Iranian PeopleOn the occasion of the National Nurse Day which is celebrated each year on the birth anniversary of Hazrat Zaynab (PBUH), Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei held a meeting with Iranian nurses and the families of martyred health workers who lost their lives in the fight against COVID-19 and said actions such as imposing a “medical embargo on the Iranian nation” shows the joy of arrogant power from Iranian people suffering.

He congratulated the birth anniversary of Hazrat Zaynab, the daughter of the first Shia Imam, Imam Ali (PBUH) and went on to say that actions such as helping former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein gas Iranian troops and border towns and imposing a “medical embargo on the Iranian nation” shows how arrogant power enjoy make Iranians suffer.

US cruel and unilateral sanctions have prevented Iran from getting the necessary medicine and equipment to fight against coronavirus, and left no choice but to use country’s own resources to tackle the problem.

Also, US measures targeted all sectors including oil and financial activities, and banned foreign banks from processing financial transactions with Iran.

Supreme Leader went on to say that “Iranian nurses and health workers tried their best during the pandemic in order to cope with the arrogant powers, and that is the double value of nursing in Islam.”

He went on to refer to the high responsibility of nurses during a number of events in Iran’s history such as Saddam’s 1980-1988 war on Iran, and said “In some junctures, such as the period of the Sacred Defense or the coronavirus, these difficulties have multiplied. These kinds of sacrifice should be recorded through art.”

Zaynab Bint Ali (PBUH), daughter of Ali ibn Abi Talib (PBUH) and Fatimah al-Zahra (PBUH), was the first granddaughter of the prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Iranian leader also referred to the Zaynab (PBUH), said she was able to show the great spiritual and intellectual capacity of women to the world and added she shows women can have two different aspects, they can be “a huge ocean of patience” and also “the pinnacle of wisdom and prudence” at the same time.
