Thursday, 20 January 2022 (YJC)_ The US Special Envoy for Yemen traveled to Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, and met with the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
During a visit to Riyadh, the US Special Envoy for Yemen, Tim Linderking, met with Nayef al-Hijraf, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
"The role of the United States is to play a key role in putting pressure on the Houthis to enter the political process," al-Hujraf said during the meeting, ignoring the Saudi coalition's aggression against Yemen over the past six years.
According to the Gulf Online website, a statement from the Gulf Cooperation Council said the two sides discussed regional and international efforts to find a political solution in Yemen.
The US Special Envoy for Yemen's visit to Riyadh is part of his regional tour this week aimed at activating the peace process in Yemen.
