Monday, 24 January 2022 (YJC)_ Emphasizing that Iran is not seeking to distance itself from the international arena, the Interior Minister said: America's failures are an opportunity to strengthen foreign policy.

Interior ministry: US failures are an opportunity to strengthen foreign policyInterior Minister Ahmad Vahidi this morning (Monday) at the opening of the "National Conference on Iran and Neighbors" held at the Center for Political and International Studies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stating that such conferences are the prelude to dialogue in foreign policy:
We have to redefine this concept and consider its specific literature with our perception and the ideas we have in the system.

"Neighborhood policy is not one-sided and should be agreed at the regional and neighborhood level," he said.
Neighborhood policy has many enemies in our region. The Islamic Republic extended a hand of friendship to its neighbors from birth, but the imposed war was a knife fired at this policy.

Noting that this policy was also on our agenda during the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Interior Minister added:
The independence of the countries and the existence of common policies was a good opportunity that we could take advantage of in some areas of the neighborhood, but some issues in the North Caucasus prevented us from taking advantage of this opportunity.

Vahidi added:
After a series of incidents, all of which took place almost in the near future, such as the withdrawal of the United States from the UN Security Council and the non-commitment of the Europeans, and showing that looking to the West is flawed and going nowhere, they showed their hostility. We came to realize that we should not look for many issues in the West.

He added:
America's successive failures are another opportunity that can help us strengthen our foreign policy, as some neighbors thought they could make progress under US protection.
