Monday, 24 January 2022 (YJC)_ Russia's permanent representative to international organizations based in response to the payment of Iran's membership dues to the United Nations has stated that blocking Iranian assets in South Korea is illegal and in violation of international law.
South Korea's finance minister announced yesterday (Sunday) that he had paid $ 18 million in frozen Iranian assets to the United Nations as Tehran's arrears of arrears so that the Islamic Republic of Iran could regain its vote at the United Nations.
Reacting to the news, Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's permanent representative to international organizations based in Vienna, stated that the freezing of Iranian assets in South Korea was a violation of international law.
He also wrote in this regard and in response to some reports that the Central Bank of Iran and the National Iranian Oil Company are on the US sanctions list:
These actions have been taken illegally and in violation of international law. Iran's budget has been blocked as a result of the (US) threat to impose sanctions on South Korea in South Korea, which is a cruel act.
